Do You Know Where Your Children Are?

Mayor Michael B. Coleman, the YMCA, local schools and churches, and the Division of Police are working together on a Curfew plan to keep children out of danger, and out of trouble, at night.

Dates: June 5th through August 24th, 2008
Time: Midnight to 6 a.m.
Who: Ages 17 & Under
When: Thursdays, Fridays & Saturdays

What happens if my child is picked up after curfew?

  • 1st time: Child taken to the Y’s Curfew Center. Parent/Guardian must pick
    up child and later join child for a 3 hour workshop
  • 2nd time: Child may have to participate in community service
    3rd time: Child may be charged with a violation of curfew and parent/guardian may be charged with parental neglect (3rd degree misdemeanors)
